Edward and I don’t have kids, but I swear sometimes this blog feels like our child. In a way it is. We created this together and with pride we’ve watched it grow. When we celebrated our five year anniversary we even realized that, just as babies tend to do, blogging can teach you a lot about marriage. Click here to check out the post we wrote on that revelation and read on to learn more about us individually.

Javacia Harris Bowser is founding editor of Georgia Mae and native of Birmingham, Alabama. A woman who lives to write, Javacia has worked as a lifestyles and entertainment reporter in Louisville, Ky., but throughout her career she's written on topics ranging from fashion, art, and music to trucking, healthcare, and autocross racing. Things you can't get her to shut up about these days include: feminism, natural hair, body image issues, fitness, and social media.
Currently Javacia is a freelance journalist and educator. She teaches early American literature, which explains her crush on Edgar Allan Poe and tendency to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson. A proud graduate of the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!), Javacia also holds a an expensive master's degree from University of California, Berkeley, which has yet to pay for itself. (So please hire her for freelance gigs.)
When she's not writing she's usually searching for great Mexican food or cupcakes or she's at the gym trying to burn off Mexican food and cupcakes.

Edward Bowser, Georgia Mae’s music editor, is a native of Portsmouth, Va., and has an encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture. Edd never pulls any punches, but that’s why you love him. You’ll find him spouting off on the ills of the music industry and society in general, while championing his favorite artists – usually R&B legend Keith Sweat. Edd also gives great advice and assists the lovelorn in his Love Letters columns.
A graduate of Norfolk State University, Edd spent eight years working as a journalist in Louisville, Ky. In that city, he met and married Georgia Mae founder Javacia Harris Bowser. Currently he serves as community manager for Luckie & Company in Birmingham, Ala., one of the largest advertising agencies in the South.
Edd’s views aren’t always popular (just ask R&B singer Blu Cantrell) but they’re always entertaining.
